Projeto
Artistas britânicos no Brasil do século XIX: Representações da paisagem brasileira nas obras de Charles Landseer e Marianne North
Resumo
This project will examine the representations of the Brazilian landscape in the paintings and drawings of two British artists who travelled to Brazil in the nineteenth century: Charles Landseer and Marianne North. It will consider the different ways in which these artists depicted Brazil’s natural scenery, and how their works were disseminated back in Britain through public exhibitions and printed media, helping to shape Georgian and Victorian perceptions of Brazil at a time when the two nations were closely linked.
